Third Grade Visits the UGA Aquarium
By: Britton Waters, PCA Junior
On Monday, March 12, the third grade students at Pinewood Christian Academy visited the UGA Aquarium on Skidaway Island. Students learned about the many different species of fish, along with marine invertebrates such as crabs and snails, and they even got to touch a few of them while at the aquarium. The majority of these species are caught right off the coast of Georgia. After exploring the aquarium, students had the opportunity to hike a nature trail that would lead them to a boardwalk where they could observe the diverse wildlife of a maritime forest. Students then enjoyed a picnic lunch to conclude their trip.
Overall, the students’ favorite experience at the aquarium was getting to hold the horseshoe crab. The students were grateful that Mrs. Daniel and Mrs. DeLoach gave them this opportunity to see the marine species in person that they typically would only be able to learn about in books.
