Third Grade Hatches Chicks
By: Britton Waters, PCA Junior
Mrs. Pam Daniel and Mrs. Crystal DeLoach at Pinewood Christian Academy (PCA) have been teaching their 3rd graders about vertebrates. The teachers gave the students a hands-on learning experience by getting eggs from the Tattnall Hatchery and allowing them to watch the chicks hatch in class. Hatching baby chicks has been a tradition at PCA for 23 years. Both of the teachers agree that the best part of this entire experience is watching the students’ faces as the chicks hatch. Shelby Croft said, “The best part of this was getting to play with the chick.” After all of the chicks have been hatched, the students have the opportunity to take home one of the baby chicks.
