PCA Literary Team Competes at State Level
On March 15, 2017, Pinewood Christian Academy’s (PCA) Literary competitors who advanced to state left early in the morning to go to Valdosta, Georgia, to compete in GISA State Literary. Miriam Porter, PCA’S Literary coach, and the students left the school at 5:45 in the morning, and she drove them to Valdosta, GA. The competition was held in the Fine Arts Building at Valdosta State University.
Miranda DeLoach competed in Personal Essay and U.S. Extemporaneous Speaking. Connor O’Sullivan competed in International Extemporaneous Speaking. Emma Waters competed in Humorous Oral Interpretation. Britton Waters competed in Spelling. Milligan Williams competed in Girls Solo. Joshua Murray competed in Boys Solo. Madeline Thompson competed in Rhetorical Essay. Milligan Williams, Haley Thompson, and Elizabeth McCooey competed in Girls Trio.
At state, a max of eight people can compete in a category. During the awards ceremony, they call fourth place and higher. Joshua and Milligan won first place in their solo competitions, and Madeline Thompson won fourth in Rhetorical Essay.
