PCA’s Varsity cheer team took the mat for the last time of the 2018 competition cheerleading season in Americus, Ga at Georgia Southwestern State University. The team competed against eight other teams including: Bethlehem Christian, Briarwood, Loganville, Bulloch, John Milledge, Trinity, Gatewood, and Brentwood. The Pinewood girls placed second behind John Milledge who claimed the state title. The varsity girls finished with an outstanding season remaining undefeated throughout the regular season and executing well in the state competition.

“I have enjoyed getting to cheer with my friends this season. Overall, it was a very successful season, and I’m very proud of my team,” commented Nola Rushing, varsity senior, on the squads amazing season.

Head Coach Lindsey Blocker praised her team by saying, “The most valuable thing to me as a coach is watching my athletes love and enjoy the sport that they have put considerable time and effort into. Over this competition season, the girls experienced several setbacks, which for most competitive cheerleading squads, would have been their demise. Due to their continued love for Pinewood Cheerleading and one another, the cheerleaders persevered through each exhibition of their skills and talents. This led them to State, where they earned State Runners-Up in spite of any obstacle that was put in their path. Getting the opportunity to coach the girls this year has been one of my greatest blessings, and I look forward to seeing what God has planned for them in the years to come as they continue to carry out the legacy of Pinewood Cheerleading.”
