Pinewood Hosts First Ever Wrestling Match
On Tuesday, January 19, Pinewood Christian Academy (PCA) hosted its first ever wrestling match against Robert Toombs Christian Academy (RTCA) and First Presbyterian Christian Academy (FPCA). Even though, the match was not about winning but about exposing PCA to wrestling, the Patriot wrestling team still pulled out some wins. For the 7th grade exhibition, Kennon Bell won in the 112 lbs. weight class, and Korbett McGregor won in the 195 lbs. weight class. For the varsity matches, Christian Strickland (Junior) won in the 138 lbs. weight class, Matthew Powell won for the 195 lbs. weight class, and Joseph McGregor (Sophomore) won for the 285 lbs. weight class.
The wrestling team will be competing on January 29 in the Region tournament at Bulloch Academy at 4:00 p.m. They will also be competing in the GISA State Championship on February 5, at 11:00 am and February 6, at 9:00 a.m. at Georgia South Western University in Americus, GA. The middle school team will be competing in the Middle School State Championship also at Bulloch Academy on January 30 at 9:00 a.m. The Patriots would greatly appreciate your support for their newest sports team!
