Pinewood holds annual Veterans Day Chapel

By Haleigh McWilliams, PCA Junior

On Wednesday, November 6, Pinewood hosted their annual Veterans Day Chapel. Hosted by the student council, the chapel brought together students, faculty, and local veterans for a time of remembrance and gratitude. The gymnasium and commons area were decorated with student-made posters and other patriotic decorations. The service began with MaClain Tucker welcoming the gathering while emphasizing the importance of honoring those who have served our nation. This was followed by an opening prayer from Luke DeLoach, a stirring rendition of the national anthem from Libby Kate Blocker, Caroline DeLoach, and Addison Swindell, and the Pledge of Allegiance led by Nicolas Nobles. Next, Genevieve Bradley and Libby Kate Blocker gave introductory remarks to a video presentation which captivated the service, sacrifice, and honor due to every service member. The service also included a Veterans Day devotion from Will Wasson and a playing of a special video of the United States Armed Forces Medley where each veteran was invited to stand and be honored when their military branches’ song was played. The ceremony concluded with a moment of silence for fallen service members, followed by the playing of “TAPS.” Ever Downs closed the ceremony with a final prayer, thanking God for protecting our country through our active and retired service members. After the ceremony, veterans were presented with folders full of hand made cards from PCA students and were invited to take pictures and spend time with their student(s).
