Third graders “get” a backbone at Pinewood
By: Britton Waters, PCA Junior
Third graders at Pinewood Christian Academy have been studying vertebrates over the past week. The students were invited to bring in their pets (with a backbone), so they could show the class what they have learned. Each student explained the classification and the characteristics of their animal to the class. Mrs. Crystal DeLoach, a third grade teacher, brought in her ball pythons, Sylvester and Tweety, to give the students the opportunity to pet and hold them. Lizzie Brown stated, “I don’t like snakes, so Mrs. DeLoach stood beside me.” The third grade students loved sharing their pets as well as learning about and seeing their classmates’ pets.
