November 30th through December 1st, Pinewood Christian Academy’s Junior Beta Club traveled to the Savannah International Trade and Convention Center for the Junior BETA Convention. The annual Jr. BETA Convention is held for students throughout the state to compete together and compete in a variety of academic and creative arts categories. Competitions took place on Thursday, and to end the night, the students celebrated with a dance party.
Friday, the winners of each category were revealed. Laci Stone received the “Premier Performing Award for Dance” that earned her a Golden Ticket advancing her to Nationals. After receiving this award, Laci said, “I am just very blessed that God gave me this opportunity and the ability to dance for His glory.” In the visual arts category, Julia Hethcox received 2nd place for her painting of purple lilacs. Tyson Swindell won 3rd place for the BETA Club Banner that he created. The Book Battle team, comprised of Aiden Woolard, Brinson White, and Lindsey McLeod, won 5th place.
Each student or group that was awarded first through third place will advance to national competition in June. This was an amazing opportunity for each of the students to compete in area of interest and to make new friends.
