PCA Cheerleaders Host Gold Themed Pep Rally
By: Mallory Sessions, PCA junior
On Friday, October 18, the cheerleaders held their second pep rally of the year. The theme of the pep rally was gold out for Emma Hinson, a k-5 student at PCA and Greyson Kennedy, a junior at Bulloch Academy, who both are battling cancer. At the beginning of the pep rally, Emma ran the football players around the gym and back to their seats. The cheerleaders perform to the fight song and then brought all the wee cheer girls down for them to perform the cheer and dance they learned throughout that week. Afterwards, there was a student teacher dance off where students and teachers from the upper school competed. A seventh grader, Connor Baldwin won the final dance off against Mrs. Dupree. The juniors won the spirit stick for the upper school and 5th and 6th grade won it for the lower school. At the end of the pep rally, the football players and cheerleaders all gathered around the mat as Gracie Hodges sang the alma mater.
That night, we played Bulloch Academy and won 32 to 14. It was the first time Pinewood has beaten BA since 2016. The theme of the game was paint the stadium gold for Emma and Greyson and there was a cake raffle held where all the proceeds went to their families. At half time, Emma and Greyson came out onto the field with their families as everyone joined in prayer. It was truly an amazing sight to see two teams look past their rivalry and come together as one for the night.
