PCA Cheer Teams host Annual Wee Cheer
By: Claire Mullis, PCA Freshman
Pinewood’s cheer-leading squads recently hosted their annual week of Wee Cheer. Wee Cheer is a week when students in grades K4- 4th have the opportunity to become “official” Pinewood cheerleaders for a week where they participate in fun activities such as learning a dance, a cheer, and get to perform during halftime at the following Friday’s football game. Each afternoon, before the girls began learning anything, varsity and JV squads gave the wee cheerleaders snacks. After their snack, everyone played a game together and practiced their cheers and dance. Next, the girls would break up into individual groups so they could practice their new skills.
Friday night before halftime, the girls came dressed in their Pinewood green, orange, and white with many dressed in cheer uniforms. The wee cheerleaders were so excited to perform in front their family and friends. They did amazing showing their school spirit for the Patriots, and enjoyed their week of being an “official” PCA cheerleader. The cheer squad cannot wait until next year! Senior Malaree Dasher shared, “Wee cheer was a fun experience. I enjoyed getting to know and spend a week with these girls, showing them what we do, and encouraging school spirit.”
