PCA 3rd Graders Participate in 2016 First Peas Contest
This year, Pinewood Christian Academy (PCA) third graders are participating in the 2016 First Peas Contest presented by The American Farm Bureau Foundation for Agriculture, to celebrate the book of the year, First Peas to the Table, written by Susan Grigsby and published by Albert Whiteman. The contest will be held March 1, 2016 – May 16, 2016. Participants must grow, shell, and measure garden shelling peas (English peas). The goal is to be the student team that grows the greatest amount of peas (measured in cups) using no more than 20 pea seeds during the official contest period. The winning team will receive a visit by Miss America 2016, Miss Betty Cantrell, to their school or community. The contest is open for K-5th graders, and this year, Pinewood 3rd grades are excited to be participating. This is not only a great learning process for the children but also a very fun, competitive opportunity.
