Patriots and Lady Patriots Begin Their Basketball Season

On Tuesday, December 1st, both Pinewood Patriot teams hosted Twiggs Academy Trojans. The Lady Patriots had the lead throughout the game with a 45-23 victory. There was a three way tie for highest scorer. They were Abi Oates, Shelton Rogers, and Emily Shiver with 6 points a piece. Other points were scored by the following: Hanna Anderson-2, Carleigh Bell-4, Abigail Bland-4, Jordan Jernigan-4, Macy Pirkle-4, Aubrey Ray Sheffield-4, Hailey Thompson-2, Tara Thompson-2, and Raegan Waters-1.
The Patriots also gained a victory for their first game. At the half the score was 36-34 with Twiggs on top, but the Patriots came out in the second half in full force to win the game 61-51. Leading the Patriots in points was Ethan Duckworth and Kaleb Shuman with both scoring 15 points. Other points were made by Cameron Dutton 8, Parks Hagan 4, Kort Kennedy 2, Will Sheffield 1, John Michael Thompson 7, and Jeffery Young 9.
The Patriot teams traveled to Memorial Day School Friday, December 4th, to take on the Matadors. The Lady Patriots won big with a blowout score of 63-5. Macy Pirkle was on fire for the Lady Patriots with a high score of 16 points. Hailey Thompson was next with 8 points. Other points were made by Hanna Anderson 2, Carleigh Bell 6, Abigail Bland 1, Jordan Jernigan 7, Abi Oates 6, Shelton Rogers 6, Aubrey Ray Sheffield 5, Emily Shiver 2, and Tara Thompson 4.
The Patriots fought hard throughout their game but did not come out with a victory. The score was 72-42. Leading the Patriots was Jeffery Young with 9 points. Others were Cameron Dutton 7, Ethan Duckworth 5, Parks Hagan 7, Kort Kennedy 2, Wes Purcell 3, Blake Shuman 4, Kaleb Shuman 1, Maylon Stanfield 2, and John Michael Thompson 2.
