11th grade Honors English speeches
November 2nd, Mrs. Litch’s junior Honors English class gave motivational speeches. This assignment was inspired by Jonathon Edwards’s “In the Hands of an Angry God.” In his sermon, Edwards talks about the wrath of God on humankind. He emotionally connects with his audience, leading thousands to give their life to Christ and repent from their sins. Students were required to talk about a topic they are passionate about. The goal was to encourage and motivate their classmates as in the way Edwards motivated people to return to Puritan traditions. Students spoke against drunk driving, smoking, and texting while driving. Other students spoke on the importance of voting, community service, and hard work.
