Lady Patriots Back to Back Region Champs
The softball team at Pinewood Christian Academy is the GISA Region 2 champions for the second year in a row. The Lady Patriots played the last 4 games on the road and scored 49 runs. The first 17 runs were scored against David Emanuel Academy in a shut out game Sept. 21. Carleigh Bell was the mound for PCA, and Leanne Whiten was the top batter with 5 RBIs. Junior, Abigail Bland, also hit her first out the park homerun. Bulloch Academy would be the site of the next 10 runs as the Lady Patriots defeated the Lady Gators 10-4, Sept 22. Raegan Waters was the winning pitcher. Emily Shiver and Maggie Greer lead with 3 RBIs each. The next 16 runs would be picked up at Trinity, Sept. 24. The Lady Patriots had a score to settle and did with a score of 16-8. Reagan Waters again was on the mound for the win. The outstanding offense was spread out through the lineup Hanna Anderson would lead with 5 RBIs, followed by Abigail Bland with 3. Shelton Rogers and Carleigh Bell would bring in 2 runs each and 1 each for Macy and Delaney Pirkle, Emily Shiver, and Raegan Waters. The final 6 runs would be the final runs need to take the region title. Saturday, Sept. 26, the Lady Patriots traveled to Waynesboro and took on the Emund Burke Lady Spartans in a 6-2 victory. Raegan Waters was the winning pitcher. Hanna Anderson was on fire at the plate batting a thousand, and Emily Shiver lead with 4 runs brought in for PCA. Congratulation to the Lady Patriots on the Region championship. The team will play the senior game against Brentwood Sept. 28 and will host a Pink Out Scrimmage against Bulloch Academy to help raise breast cancer awareness all proceeds will go to local C.A.R.E.S organization on Monday, Oct. 5.
