Lady Patriots are Region Champs Again!!

The softball team at Pinewood Christian Academy (PCA) once again hold the title of GISA AAA Region 2 Champs. The Lady Spartans, Lady Gators, and Crusaders would do their best to dethrone the Lady Patriots in region play. The last three conquests keep the title in the hands of Pinewood.
The first battle was played in the Lady Spartans’ domain. PCA traveled to Edmund Burke Academy to rumble. The fight would tend to be one sided as the Lady Patriots would put 4 runs on the board in first two innings as Shelton Rogers, Hanna Anderson, Macy Pirkle and Jordan Jernigan touch the plate for visiting team. PCA scores four more runs in the 7th inning when Carleigh Bell, Abigail Bland, Raegan Waters and Leanne Whiten all take a turn crossing home plate for the Patriots. Raegan Waters was on the mound for the 8-3 victory.
The Lady Gators of Bulloch Academy would come to Bellville to lock horns with the Lady Patriots for the next contest. The game appeared to be in favor of BA as the score was 0-1 going into the bottom of the 5th inning. Maggie Greer hits a single to spark PCA and Abigail Bland line drives to centerfield to fan the flames. Pinewood wins 2-1. Raegan Waters was again the winning pitcher.
The third face off in region 2 ended in a 3-0 shut out between the Lady Crusaders of Trinity Christian and Pinewood. The Lady Patriots were in hostile territory as they have not seen Trinity since State playoffs last year. Pitcher, Raegan Waters would keep the Lady Crusaders at bay and off the board. PCA waits late to contend as the 5th inning would be the first time runs are scored. Finally repeat line drives to centerfield by Macy Pirkle and Shelton Rogers and doubles from Hanna Anderson and Maggie Greer puts 3 runs on the board and a nail in the coffin of region play. The Lady Patriots clinch region with this triumph.
The Lady Patriots will finish regular season play and began their conquest to defend their state championship title. PCA will go into combat with a target on their backs as they try to make it three in a row or as they are calling it a “three-peat”. The GISA AAA Region 2 Champions are coached by head coach Brett Lewis, Tracy Lynn and Kelvin Goodson.
