Jake Woolard signs with Sewanee University of the South
On Friday, April 28, 2017, Pinewood Christian Academy’s Jake Woolard signed to Sewanee University of the South’s baseball team in Sewanee, TN. He earned three scholarships from the university including The Ecce Quam Bonum(EQB) Scholarship, the Fairbanks Award, as well as the Georgia Four scholarship awarded to students from Georgia who meet the GPA requirements. Jake is the son of Angie and Greg Woolard of Glennville, GA.
Jake has played baseball for PCA for six years beginning in middle school where he has been a great asset to his team and earned multiple All-Region awards. He has played baseball since he was eight years old all over the southeast with travel ball. It was at a showcase in East Cobb in the Atlanta area that Sewanee University Coach David Jenkins first saw Jake play and began talking with him about playing baseball for the university.
“I decided to play ball at Sewanee not only because of their athletic program, but because of their outstanding educational and engineering programs,” Jake explained. His plans are to attend Sewanee for three years when he will then transfer to Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN.
Brett Lewis, Jake’s baseball coach, said, “We are very excited for Jake. He has worked extremely hard these past four years to get this opportunity. He will be a great representative of Pinewood and our local community.”
