First Grade Christmas Play
Every year the Pinewood Christian Academy (PCA) first graders present “The Tail of Three Trees” as a Christmas play. This year’s play will be held on December 16, 2015, in the PCA cafetorium at 8:30 for all parents and grandparents to watch their child or grandchild on stage. Each child has a part in the production of this play. The children were divided into groups according to what their role is in the play: woodcutters, angels, shepherds, boat builders, and trees. “The Tail of Three Trees” is a folktale about three trees that live on top of a mountain, and each tree has a dream of his own. The first tree has a dream about being a treasure chest but becomes a manger in the stable. The second tree dreams about becoming a strong ship but turns out to be a fishing boat for the disciples. The third tree wishes to stay on the mountain and point to heaven, and he becomes the cross Jesus died on. All of these trees got cut down and turned into something different from what they dreamed of being, but what they became was so much better than what they could have ever dreamed of becoming. It teaches children that your dreams might turn out different than what you want, but they might turn out even better than you imagined.
