Shiver takes first prize in the Claxton Rotary Speech contest
On Wednesday, February 1st, Lauren Shiver (junior) and Lilly Dasher (junior) represented Pinewood Christian Academy by competing in the annual Claxton Rotary Speech contest. There was a total of five competitors, three of which were from Claxton High School. These contestants had three topics to choose from for their speeches: Rotary Serving Humanity, The Four-Way Test, and Doing Good In The World.
Lauren Shiver earned first place for her speech in the competition winning a $200 scholarship from the Claxton Rotary Club. Shiver qualifies to present her speech at the zone competition later in the month where she will have the opportunity to win a $1000 scholarship and present her winning speech at the district annual conference in March.
