AP Lit Students Present Poetry Projects

By: Britton Waters, PCA Senior

On Friday, March 1st, the AP Literature class at Pinewood Christian Academy presented their poetry projects.  Over the past few weeks, both in and out of the classroom, the students have been studying a diverse group of poetry and the poets who wrote them.  The students were required to write a biography on a poet of their choice along with a description of the era in which they lived that contributed to their style of writing.  As a representation of five of their poet’s works, students created a scrapbook and filled it with a TPCASTT (a poem analysis describing the title, paraphrase, connotation, diction, attitude, tone, shift, title revisited, and theme) for each and an essay for two poems.  Students also chose their favorite poem to display on a poster board which helped them to teach the class about the different poetic devices within it.

This project allowed the AP Lit students to delve deeper into the background of poets and their writings, enabling them to have a better understanding.  All of the students enjoyed this opportunity to not only learn more about a wide range of poets, but also get creative while designing their scrapbooks and posters.
