Beta Club Welcomes its New Members

Pinewood’s Senior Beta Club induction was held on Monday, September 13, to recognize new members and to mark the beginning of a new year for the club. Pinewood’s Beta Club officers this year are seniors Connor O’Sullivan, president, Grainger Ballard, vice president, Graham Tanner, secretary, Zac Kumpula, treasurer, and Madeline Thompson, chaplain; also, this is Mrs. Susan Nobles’ second year as Beta’s lead teacher. Beta Club is a fairly new addition to PCA’s extracurricular activities, having been chartered in 2015.
Beta Club is “the largest independent, non-profit, educational youth organization in America.” Beta promotes academic achievement, character, service, and leadership among students; its motto is “Let Us Lead by Serving Others”. Famous Beta alumni include Herschel Walker, Trisha Yearwood, Kevin Durant, and Bill Clinton.
At Pinewood, to be eligible to join Beta club, students must maintain at least a 3.0 GPA. Members participate in monthly service projects together, and in January, the Georgia Beta Club convention will be held for members to network, to compete in academic and talent competitions, and to vote on new state Beta officers. Grace Gordon, one of our newly inducted members, had this to say, “I’m excited to be in the Beta Club and helping with community projects!”
