Prom Attire Guidelines 2017

It’s the start of a new year, and that means prom is right around the corner! Prom is something the junior and senior classes look forward to every year. While prom is a time to dress up and have fun, it’s also a time that we are representing Pinewood Christian Academy. A list of  “fashion rules,” has been created to ensure the dress or suit we purchase fits the guidelines. For guys, you may wear a tuxedo or dress suit with a tie or bow tie. You may not wear a hat, have a cane, or have any unnecessary accessories. For girls, dresses may be strapless or have spaghetti straps. Dresses may be backless as long as they are not cut below the naval. Dresses may not be cut below the bust line. If your arms are down by your sides, you shouldn’t be touching any flesh. Midriffs can’t be exposed, front or back. Dresses will not have a slit higher than mid-thigh, and the length must be at least mid-thigh measuring shortest non-shear part. Dresses with see-through fabric in the midriff or below the bust line are not acceptable, undergarments should not be visible. Finally, dresses that are overly tight are not acceptable. The guidelines note that it is acceptable to sew in fabric or non-sheer mesh to make a dress meet the prom guidelines. Cover ups like coats are not allowed over dresses that do not meet the guidelines. We look forward to having a fun, elegant night at Pinewood’s 2017 annual junior/senior prom.
