HOBY Leadership Seminar 2016

By: Milligan Williams, Junior

Six PCA sophomores attended the Georgia Hugh O’Brien Youth Leadership Seminar at Georgia College and State University in June. The HOBY state seminar develops students’ leadership skills and equips them to become strong and ethical leaders in their communities. Sophomores from across the state learned about intrapersonal skills, public speaking, teamwork, social justice, and the importance of community service. Pinewood was proud to be represented at HOBY 2016 by Sky Rogers, Haley Thompson, Lauren Shiver, Brantley Swindell, Sarah Whiten, and Milligan Williams. Additionally, Madeline Thompson volunteered as a junior staffer; to be eligible for the opportunity, Thompson completed over one hundred hours of community service. When asked her favorite memory from the conference, Shiver responded, “I enjoyed the experience of learning about different personalities and how they can work together as a team.” HOBY 2016 was a huge success, and Pinewood looks forward to giving these opportunities to more students in the future!
