Gunner Comes to Visit PCA

Pinewood Christian Academy (PCA) patrons, Britnee and Hamilton Ki-nard from the SD Gunner Fund visited the PCA 5th and 6th grade students on Thursday, March 3, 2016. The SD Gunner fund was created to assist Veterans and disabled children with the financial expenses of owning much needed ser-vice animals. Service animals require a variety of necessities in order for them to perform to their full ability. Some of the necessities include vests, custom harnesses, other assistance items, veterinary visits, and more. The SD Gunner fund not only assists with the expenses of the service dog, but also assists with other expenses for veterans and disabled children.
When they visited PCA, they brought with them a new puppy who was purchased by donations from Evans County 4H. They also brought Gunner, the service dog owned by Hamilton Kinard. Service dogs assist people with many different types of handicaps including mobility, hearing, psychiatric, and brain/neurological disabilities.
